2/20/2023 0 Comments Amberlight experimental![]() ![]() ![]() "Does It Ever Get Better" is poppy but I like it. Going Nowhere" is frrom the previous EP and I agree it's not as good as the original but I love this "Fire Walk With Me" is uptempo with pounding drums and aggressive guitar at times. Post Rock guitar sound and him singing ".it feels like the knife keeps on twisting". It just breaks me when it changes after a minute with that It's mellow with lightĭrums, bass, gentle guitar and reserved vocals. ![]() "The Deep Twist" is another highlight for me. "Never Fade Out" is another straightįorward, mid paced tune that I like a lot. "Drake" features piano andįragile vocals. The lyrics are meaningful. It really reminds me of aĬhristian band I saw live once called ALL STAR UNITED. Like a mix of 80's Pop and 90's Alternative. "All Over You" is a straight forward track with prominant drums and vocals. It ends with over 3 minutes of all instrumental I'm put off by theĮxplicit lyrics here but the music itself is excellent. "Moody" has a good powerful intro before it settles somewhat when the vocals arrive. I feel the same way about this as I do about early PINEAPPLE THIEF which most people also dismiss, but I love. You just have to read my review of that EP to know that. Actually there's even one song from that EP on this record. Longest song at 6 minutes. This really is a continuation (in style) of their last release "Stranger & Strangers"įrom 2005, which was an EP. This isn't progressive at all except for "No Love Lost" which also happens to be the Prog-jester makes a lot of good points about this album. Check them out if you like one of these bands, but it's not utterly necessary to like these bands. They are right on track to become one of Germany's leading prog bands and a good alternative for fans of PINK FLOYD, PORCUPINE TREE, RADIOHEAD or SIGUR ROS. I'm sure that we will hear more from this great band. I saw them live and they blew me away promptly, their album is awesome and I really recommend it. Their first official album was released in Feburary 2004, it's called "Goodbye to Dusk, Farewell to Dawn" and is available world wide ( more informations on their homepage). But it took them two years to release their first EP called "As They Came They Slightly Disappeared" wich contained 4 great songs. The four guys from Wiesbaden/Germany formed in the summer of 2000. Besides the guitar work that is partly acoustic the keyboards can be seen as the main part of the music. One thing that stands out is for sure Luis Gabbiani's fine voice, you will hear him sing english as well as italian, both perfectly. The band consists of four members: Luis Gabbiani (vocals, keyboards and guitars), Jan Sydow (guitars), Rabin Dasgupta (bass) and Peter Ederer (drums), all of them just about 20 years of age. Their style is often said to be "New Art Rock" but I don't think that this term can picture all of their elements. But the most important thing is that their music is open for so many different influences and so the band refuses to limit themselves by sticking to one specific genre. Luis Gabbiani himself names some of these bands as major impacts. But you will also discover some similarities to VdGG or early GENESIS. Their style can be described as a mixture between PORCUPINE TREE, SIGUR ROS, RADIOHEAD, PINK FLOYD and TALK TALK. THE AMBER LIGHT is regarded as the new hope for german prog, this is what you can read in several german prog magazines like "Eclipsed" or "Empire Magazine" or on different homepages dealing with our common passion: Prog. ![]()
